AMCT-05B - Continental Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

This two-figure set depicts Continental Infantry serving during the American Revolutionary War, representing the soldiers of the Continental Army following the uniform reforms introduced in 1779.

The figures form part of the Continental Army collection and illustrate the developing military organisation of the forces commanded by General George Washington.

The Continental Army had been established in June 1775, bringing together soldiers from the American colonies to oppose British military forces.

During the early years of the conflict, shortages of uniforms and equipment made it difficult to achieve a consistent appearance across the army.

In 1779, new regulations established more formal standards of military dress.

Regiments from New England were assigned dark blue coats with white facings, while those from New York and New Jersey wore buff facings.

Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware regiments were authorised to wear dark blue coats with red facings.

Despite these standards, the difficulties of campaigning meant that soldiers often continued wearing older uniforms or improvised clothing.

This two-figure release complements the other Continental Infantry sets, allowing collectors to expand their American Revolutionary War formations.
