AMCT-05CN - Continental Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

This four-figure set depicts Continental Infantry serving during the American Revolutionary War, representing soldiers of the Continental Army following the military uniform regulations introduced in 1779.

The figures form part of a collection illustrating the development of the Continental Army into a more disciplined and organised fighting force under General George Washington.

When the war began, the American colonies lacked an established national army, and the newly formed Continental forces encountered considerable difficulties obtaining suitable equipment and uniforms.

Over the following years, improvements in military organisation and training helped transform the army.

The uniform regulations of 1779 were an important step in this development, establishing standards of dress for regiments from different regions.

Dark blue coats with white, buff or red facings were prescribed for various units, although shortages and operational conditions continued to create differences in actual appearance.

This four-figure set is particularly suitable for collectors wishing to develop larger Continental infantry formations.

Combined with the AMCT-05A, AMCT-05B and other infantry variations, it provides an opportunity to create a substantial American Revolutionary War battlefield display.
