AMCT-05BN - Continental Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

This four-figure set represents Continental Infantry serving during the American War of Independence, following the uniform regulations introduced across the Continental Army in 1779.

The figures depict members of the increasingly professional military force commanded by George Washington.

The Continental Army was formed by Congress in June 1775, shortly after the outbreak of fighting between the American colonists and British forces.

Its early years were marked by shortages of equipment, inconsistent uniforms and the challenge of training soldiers from different colonies.

As the war progressed, Washington introduced reforms intended to improve the army's discipline and organisation.

The uniform regulations of 1779 established dark blue coats as the standard for many Continental regiments, with facing colours used to distinguish soldiers from different regions.

Although these regulations marked an important development, shortages and the demands of military campaigning meant that full uniformity was difficult to achieve.

This four-figure set complements AMCT-05B and the other Continental Army releases, making it particularly suitable for collectors constructing larger infantry formations from the American Revolutionary War.
