AMCT-05AN - Continental Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

This four-figure set represents Continental Infantry serving during the American War of Independence, following the introduction of the Continental Army's uniform regulations in 1779.

The figures form part of the Continental Army collection, depicting the increasingly organised military forces commanded by General George Washington.

When the American Revolutionary War began, the colonies possessed no established national army capable of confronting British regular forces.

The Continental Army was formed in June 1775, but its development was initially hindered by shortages of equipment, training and suitable uniforms.

By 1779, Washington and his senior officers had introduced more consistent standards of military organisation and dress.

The new uniform regulations established dark blue coats with different facing colours for regiments from various regions.

Although the regulations provided a clear standard, shortages and the harsh conditions of military campaigning meant that considerable variations continued to exist.

This four-figure set provides an excellent opportunity to expand a Continental infantry formation, particularly when combined with the smaller AMCT-05A release and the other variations in the collection.
