ALM-14A – Almoravid Officer and Drummer | John Jenkins Designs
The Almoravids were a powerful North African military movement that emerged during the 11th century and extended their influence into the Iberian Peninsula.
Founded by Ibn Yasin in southern Morocco, the Almoravid movement established its capital at Marrakesh in 1070.
Under Yusuf Ibn Tashfin, Almoravid forces entered Spain and achieved an important victory over the Christian armies at the Battle of Zalaca in October 1086.
The Almoravids subsequently became a significant military and political force during the period known as the Reconquista, confronting the Christian kingdoms and becoming closely associated with the historical events surrounding El Cid.
ALM-14A – Almoravid Officer and Drummer by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set depicting an officer and a drummer from the Almoravid army.
This A variation features the figures wearing distinctive black clothing.
The officer and drummer provide an important command element for the collection, complementing the Almoravid infantry, archers and other military figures.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs The Crusades – El Cid and the Reconquista collection, this set is particularly suitable for displays featuring an assembled Almoravid military force.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
