GMP-25MD – Minamoto Retainers | John Jenkins Designs
The Gempei War was fought between the Taira and Minamoto clans during the final years of Japan's Heian period.
The conflict brought major political changes, ending Taira dominance and leading to the establishment of the Kamakura shogunate under Minamoto no Yoritomo.
John Jenkins Designs explains that the military forces of this period included elite samurai warriors supported by groups of retainers.
These soldiers often wore simpler do-maru armour, constructed using leather and silk lacing, rather than the more elaborate yoroi associated with wealthy mounted samurai.
GMP-25MD – Minamoto Retainers by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set representing warriors serving the Minamoto Clan.
The set brings together the individual GMP-25MA and GMP-25MB retainers, providing an additional pair of soldiers for collectors assembling a Minamoto military formation.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War collection, these figures complement the other Japanese samurai and retainers in the range.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
