GMP-24MD – Minamoto Retainers | John Jenkins Designs

The Gempei War was a civil war between the powerful Taira and Minamoto families during the late Heian period of Japan.

The conflict ultimately brought an end to Taira political dominance and led to the establishment of the Kamakura shogunate under Minamoto no Yoritomo.

According to John Jenkins Designs, the armies of this period included mounted samurai accompanied by groups of lighter-armoured retainers.

The retainers commonly wore do-maru armour, constructed from treated leather and silk lacing.

These soldiers formed part of the wider military forces supporting their clan leaders.

GMP-24MD – Minamoto Retainers by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set representing warriors serving the Minamoto Clan.

The set brings together the individual GMP-24MA and GMP-24MB retainers, providing collectors with a pair of warriors for their Gempei War displays.

Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War collection, this set complements the manufacturer's other Minamoto infantry and cavalry figures.

Now available from The Military Workshop.
