CID-19N – Spanish Crossbowmen | John Jenkins Designs
The military history of medieval Spain during the 11th century was shaped by the competing ambitions of Christian kingdoms, Muslim rulers and the North African Almoravid movement.
This was the era of El Cid, whose military career became closely associated with the conflicts and shifting alliances of the Reconquista.
According to John Jenkins Designs, the armies of the period incorporated a remarkable variety of military formations, ranging from mounted knights to infantry and missile troops.
The manufacturer's Spanish collection includes crossbowmen represented in different stages of loading and firing, allowing collectors to assemble a more complete medieval infantry formation.
CID-19N – Spanish Crossbowmen by John Jenkins Designs is a four-figure set depicting Spanish soldiers loading their crossbows.
These figures are designed to complement the firing crossbowmen of CID-18N, creating a formation showing different stages of preparing and discharging these medieval weapons.
The combination of the two sets provides collectors with an opportunity to recreate a larger group of Spanish missile troops.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs The Crusades – El Cid and the Reconquista collection.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
