CID-23 – Two Spanish Spearmen | John Jenkins Designs
During the 11th century, the Iberian Peninsula was the setting for a series of conflicts involving Christian kingdoms, Muslim rulers and the powerful North African Almoravid movement.
This period became known as the Reconquista and was closely associated with the famous Spanish warrior El Cid.
The armies of medieval Spain included a wide variety of soldiers, ranging from heavily armed mounted knights to infantrymen equipped with spears and other weapons.
According to the historical background provided by John Jenkins Designs, the military forces of the period were influenced by both northern European and Andalusian fighting traditions.
The manufacturer's Spanish infantry collection represents the foot soldiers who served alongside the mounted warriors during these campaigns.
CID-23 – Two Spanish Spearmen by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set depicting Spanish infantrymen armed with spears.
These soldiers provide an important addition to the Spanish infantry formations of the Reconquista period.
The set complements the manufacturer's Spanish crossbowmen, other spearmen and mounted knights, allowing collectors to create a larger medieval army.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs The Crusades – El Cid and the Reconquista collection.
