CID-23N – Four Spanish Spearmen | John Jenkins Designs
The armies of medieval Spain during the Reconquista reflected the varied political and military traditions of the Iberian Peninsula.
The period associated with El Cid witnessed conflicts between Christian kingdoms, the Muslim territories of Al-Andalus and the expanding Almoravid movement from North Africa.
John Jenkins Designs describes this era as a complex period in which military alliances frequently crossed political and religious divisions.
Alongside the mounted knights who became increasingly important during the 11th century, infantrymen remained an essential part of the forces engaged in these campaigns.
Spearmen were among the foot soldiers represented in the manufacturer's collection depicting the Spanish armies of the period.
CID-23N – Four Spanish Spearmen by John Jenkins Designs is a four-figure set portraying Spanish infantrymen equipped with spears.
The additional figures allow collectors to assemble a larger formation of medieval infantry, complementing the mounted knights and crossbowmen of the same collection.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs The Crusades – El Cid and the Reconquista range, this set is suitable for recreating Spanish military formations from the 11th century.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
