MGMP-04C – Warrior Monk | John Jenkins Designs
During the Gempei War, the armed Buddhist monks known as Sohei formed an important third force alongside the rival Taira and Minamoto clans.
The warrior monks were associated with powerful religious institutions, whose political and military interests brought them into conflict with other factions.
According to John Jenkins Designs, the Sohei wore traditional monk's robes with basic armour beneath and employed weapons including the naginata.
The manufacturer's Gempei War collection also represents these warriors armed with swords, illustrating another form of equipment used by the figures in the range.
MGMP-04C – Warrior Monk depicts a Japanese warrior monk dressed in black robes and carrying two swords.
This version complements MGMP-04B, providing another colour variation for a group of Sohei warriors.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War collection.
