MGMP-06A – Warrior Monk | John Jenkins Designs
The Gempei War (1180–1185) involved rival samurai clans, their military retainers and the warrior monks associated with Japan's powerful Buddhist monasteries.
The Sohei formed an important military presence during the conflict, with monasteries sometimes supporting the Taira and sometimes the Minamoto.
John Jenkins Designs describes the warrior monks as wearing protective armour beneath their traditional religious clothing.
Among the weapons represented in the manufacturer's Sohei collection are the naginata, swords and other Japanese polearms.
MGMP-06A – Warrior Monk depicts a Japanese warrior monk wearing black and red armour and carrying a nagamaki.
The combination of protective equipment and a long-handled weapon provides a distinctive addition to the manufacturer's collection of Japanese warrior monks.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War range, the figure complements the other armoured Sohei warriors.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
