ALB-12G – East Kent “The Buffs” | John Jenkins Designs
The story of the East Kent Regiment at Albuera is one of the most dramatic episodes of Wellington’s Peninsular campaigns.
On 16 May 1811, the Buffs formed part of Colborne’s brigade when a sudden storm swept across the battlefield. Driving rain and hail reduced visibility and made flintlock muskets extremely difficult to use just as enemy cavalry approached the exposed British flank.
The resulting charge by the Vistula Legion lancers and French 2nd Hussars tore into infantry still deployed in line. The Buffs suffered extraordinary losses during the action, but the regiment itself survived and was subsequently rebuilt.
ALB-12G captures one of the soldiers caught in that violent encounter and makes an ideal opposing figure for the mounted ALB releases.
Combine the different Buffs figures to create a battered British formation while the cavalry closes around them, producing an exceptionally dramatic Peninsular War scene.
Now available from The Military Workshop – a powerful John Jenkins Designs representation of the 1/3rd East Kent Regiment at Albuera.
