AP-51A - Persian Cataphract | John Jenkins Designs

This Persian Cataphract represents the cavalry forces of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, one of the largest and most influential empires of the ancient world.

The mounted figure belongs to the Armies and Enemies of Greece and Macedonia collection and illustrates the importance of cavalry within the extensive military forces of the Persian kings.

Founded by Cyrus the Great around 550 BC, the Achaemenid Empire expanded across vast territories, stretching from the Balkans and Egypt to the Indus Valley.

Its military strength drew upon the many peoples incorporated into the empire, including Persians, Medes, Bactrians, Scythians and Sakas.

These different groups brought their own traditions of mounted warfare, creating a varied and adaptable cavalry force capable of operating across the empire's diverse territories.

Cavalry played an important role in Persian military campaigns, supporting infantry formations and providing mobility across extensive battlefields.

This Persian Cataphract makes an excellent addition to an Achaemenid military collection, particularly when displayed alongside other mounted warriors and Persian infantry.

Now available from The Military Workshop.
