AP-51B - Persian Cataphract | John Jenkins Designs
This Persian Cataphract represents a mounted warrior of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, forming part of the Armies and Enemies of Greece and Macedonia collection.
The figure provides an additional cavalry variation for collectors building the extensive armies associated with the ancient Persian kings.
The Achaemenid Empire was established by Cyrus the Great in the sixth century BC and grew to encompass territories extending from southeastern Europe through the Middle East and into Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
The empire's remarkable territorial diversity was reflected in its military organisation, which incorporated soldiers and cavalrymen from numerous subject peoples.
Persian, Median, Bactrian, Scythian and Saka horsemen contributed different fighting traditions and military skills, creating a versatile mounted force.
The empire's administration and extensive road networks helped maintain communication across its far-reaching territories, supporting the organisation of its military campaigns.
This Persian Cataphract complements AP-51A and the wider Persian cavalry range, allowing collectors to expand mounted formations for displays depicting the ancient armies of the Achaemenid Empire.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
