INCA-06N - Inca Warriors | John Jenkins Designs
This four-figure set depicts Inca Warriors serving within the military forces of the Inca Empire during its period of expansion and the subsequent Spanish conquest.
The warriors are represented with spears and shields, illustrating the infantry equipment employed by soldiers serving in the armies of the Inca rulers.
The Inca Empire was the largest state in pre-Columbian America, with its administrative and military centre at Cusco. Through conquest and political assimilation, the empire expanded across much of the Andean region.
Its military forces were highly organised, drawing soldiers from the many communities incorporated into the empire. Among the most prestigious contingents were the elite Inca warriors associated with Hanan Cusco and Hurin Cusco.
Experienced soldiers were known as Huaminca, or veterans, and received extensive training in the use of different weapons. Their instruction began during adolescence and involved demanding tests of courage, endurance and military ability.
The Inca military system relied upon cooperation between different types of infantry, with spearmen, slingers and other warriors contributing to coordinated military operations.
This four-figure set provides an excellent opportunity to expand an Inca infantry formation and recreate larger groups of soldiers within historical battlefield displays.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
