INCA-17B - Colla Bolas Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

This Colla Bolas Warrior represents a soldier of the Andean region, depicted using the traditional bolas weapon associated with the Colla people.

The figure wears a distinctive blue-and-white vertically striped tunic and carries a shield while spinning his bolas in preparation to throw.

The Colla were recognised for their characteristic clothing, particularly the conical black woollen cap known as the Chukka. These caps commonly featured a crescent-shaped badge, while their tunics displayed broad vertical stripes arranged into panels.

The bolas was an important weapon used by Colla warriors. It consisted of several stone weights wrapped in rawhide and attached to cords, which were spun before being released towards an opponent.

The weighted cords could entangle an enemy or become wrapped around the legs of a horse, making the weapon especially effective against mounted soldiers.

Historical accounts record the use of bolas against Spanish cavalry during the rebellion of Manco Inca, when indigenous forces resisted Spanish domination of the former Inca territories.

This individual warrior is an excellent addition to a Colla infantry formation, particularly when combined with the red-and-white tunic variation and larger bolas warrior sets.
