RR-31 - Roger's Rangers | John Jenkins Designs
This two-figure set represents Roger's Rangers during the French and Indian War, depicting soldiers from the specialist colonial light infantry force raised under Major Robert Rogers.
The figures are shown in contrasting combat positions, with one Ranger standing and aiming his musket while the second kneels and prepares his weapon. These poses reflect the active skirmishing role associated with the Rangers during their operations in North America.
Roger's Rangers were trained for missions that differed from conventional European infantry warfare. Their responsibilities included reconnaissance, intelligence gathering and conducting raids against distant enemy targets.
Robert Rogers drew upon the experience of earlier colonial frontier soldiers to develop methods suited to the difficult terrain and conditions encountered during North American campaigns.
His approach was formalised through the 28 Rules of Ranging, which established principles for the movement and conduct of ranger patrols.
The Rangers' effectiveness resulted in the expansion of the original company into a substantial corps serving British forces during the French and Indian War.
These two figures complement the wider Raid on St. Francis collection and are particularly suitable for depicting a woodland skirmish or an advancing ranger patrol.
