RRB60-09A - Drummer #1 | John Jenkins Designs
This Drummer represents a member of the 60th (Royal American) Regiment of Foot during the French and Indian War.
The figure forms part of the British Regulars collection associated with the Raid on St. Francis, 1759, providing a military musician to accompany the infantry, officers and other regimental figures.
The Royal American Regiment was established following the difficulties experienced by British forces during the early campaigns of the French and Indian War.
After General Braddock's defeat in 1755, authority was granted to raise a regiment of four battalions, drawing recruits from Germany and German communities in North America.
Initially designated the 62nd Regiment of Foot, it became the 60th (Royal American) Regiment in February 1757.
Despite early recruitment difficulties, the regiment subsequently developed an important reputation within the British Army.
This individual drummer adds a distinctive ceremonial and regimental element to a Royal American infantry formation.
It is particularly suitable for display alongside the regiment's officers, line infantry and other drummers to create a more complete historical military scene.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
