RRBNJ-08 - Grenadiers | John Jenkins Designs
This two-figure set represents Grenadiers of the New Jersey Provincial Regiment standing at attention during the French and Indian War.
The New Jersey Provincials, widely known as the Jersey Blues, were among the colonial military formations raised to support British forces operating in North America.
Originally established in 1755, the regiment participated in several military expeditions and frontier operations during the conflict.
Following substantial losses suffered during the campaigns of 1757, the regiment was reorganised and increased in strength.
In April 1758, the New Jersey General Assembly approved an establishment of 1,000 officers and men, including 100 grenadiers.
The regiment's grenadier company was particularly distinctive, as the New Jersey Provincials were the only provincial regiment of the period identified in the manufacturer's historical notes as possessing such a company.
The New Jersey troops subsequently participated in the British campaign against Fort Carillon in July 1758.
These two grenadiers provide an excellent addition to a Jersey Blues collection, particularly when displayed alongside the regiment's ordinary line infantry, officers and drummers.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
