RRBNJ-09B - Drummer | John Jenkins Designs

This New Jersey Provincial Drummer represents a military musician serving with the Jersey Blues during the French and Indian War.

The figure is identified as Drummer #2 and provides an important addition to the regimental figures depicting New Jersey's contribution to British military operations in North America.

The Jersey Blues were raised in 1755 by the New Jersey provincial government, initially consisting of five companies assigned to service on the northern frontier.

The regiment became known by its distinctive nickname partly because of the blue coats worn by its soldiers.

During the war, the New Jersey Provincials participated in military expeditions, frontier defence and garrison operations.

The regiment experienced particularly difficult campaigns in 1757, suffering substantial losses before being reorganised the following year.

In 1758, its authorised strength was increased to 1,000 officers and men, and the regiment participated in the campaign against Fort Carillon.

This individual drummer complements the regiment's officers, grenadiers and line infantry, making it a useful addition to a marching or at-attention military formation.
