RRBPEN-03N - Pennsylvanian Reg. Set | John Jenkins Designs
This four-figure set depicts line infantry of the Pennsylvanian Provincial Regiment standing at attention during the French and Indian War.
Identified as the manufacturer's second at-attention set, these figures provide an opportunity to expand a Pennsylvanian military formation with additional provincial soldiers.
The Pennsylvanian Provincial Regiment developed from the military response organised following General Braddock's defeat on the Monongahela in July 1755.
At the beginning of the conflict, Pennsylvania had no established provincial military force of the type subsequently required for frontier defence.
As attacks against frontier settlements increased, colonial authorities approved defensive fortifications and began organising volunteer companies.
In November 1755, the Pennsylvania Assembly authorised the creation of a provincial regiment, incorporating existing volunteers and militia.
The regiment was formally organised into two battalions in March 1756, with a third battalion established later to defend the Augusta region.
These four soldiers provide an excellent addition to a larger Pennsylvanian Provincial Regiment display, particularly when combined with the other at-attention set, officers and drummers.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
