During the closing years of World War II, German Waffen-SS formations found themselves engaged in increasingly desperate fighting across Europe. From the bitter winter conditions of the Eastern Front to the forests and villages of Western Europe, German troops frequently fought in difficult weather, often with limited supplies and equipment.
As Allied forces advanced, encounters between different German military formations, including the Waffen-SS and Fallschirmjäger, formed part of the confusion surrounding the final stages of the war.
