TR001 – Victoria & Albert

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert became one of the most famous royal couples of the 19th century.

Married in 1840, their partnership was both personal and political. Albert became an influential adviser to Victoria and played an important role in cultural and scientific initiatives, most famously the Great Exhibition of 1851.

His premature death in 1861 devastated Victoria, who remained in mourning for many years afterwards.
