Olga and Tatiana were the two eldest daughters of Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra.

During the First World War, both became involved in nursing wounded soldiers, with Tatiana taking an especially active role in hospital work. Their lives, like those of the entire Romanov family, were overtaken by revolution and captivity.
