WFIND-01N2 - Compagnie des Indes Troops | John Jenkins Designs

This twelve-piece set represents French Compagnie des Indes troops during the Third Carnatic War and the Battle of Wandewash on 22 January 1760.

The set provides a larger formation of French colonial infantry, depicting the soldiers who participated in the struggle for military and commercial influence in India during the Seven Years' War.

The Compagnie des Indes maintained an organised military force that included European infantry, cavalry, artillery and Indian sepoys.

These troops were involved in numerous campaigns across southern India during the eighteenth century.

Under commanders including Charles Joseph Patissier de Bussy-Castelnau, the French company forces played an important role in military operations against British interests.

During the Third Carnatic War, troops of the company participated in the Battle of Wandewash, fought on 22 January 1760.

The campaign continued with the defence of Pondicherry, where French forces remained until the settlement surrendered in January 1761.

This larger set is particularly suitable for collectors wishing to assemble a substantial Compagnie des Indes infantry formation, especially when combined with the smaller WFIND-01 release and other figures representing the French army in India.
