ALM-14B – Almoravid Officer and Drummer | John Jenkins Designs
During the 11th and 12th centuries, the Almoravids established themselves as a major military and political power across North Africa and parts of medieval Spain.
The movement originated in southern Morocco under Ibn Yasin, combining religious devotion with a strong military tradition.
By 1070, the Almoravids had established their capital at Marrakesh, which became the centre of their expanding territories.
Their intervention in the Iberian Peninsula brought them into conflict with several Christian kingdoms during the period associated with El Cid and the Reconquista.
The Almoravid army included a variety of military formations, represented within the John Jenkins Designs collection by cavalrymen, infantry, archers and command figures.
ALM-14B – Almoravid Officer and Drummer by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set featuring an officer and drummer.
This B variation depicts the figures wearing brown clothing, providing an alternative to the black-clothed ALM-14A release.
The two figures can be displayed alongside the manufacturer's other Almoravid soldiers to create a more complete representation of the military forces operating in medieval Spain.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs The Crusades – El Cid and the Reconquista collection.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
