GMP-20MD – Minamoto Retainers | John Jenkins Designs
The Gempei War (1180–1185) marked a decisive turning point in Japanese history, ending with the defeat of the Taira and the rise of the Minamoto Clan.
According to John Jenkins Designs, the conflict helped establish the samurai warrior class as a central force in Japanese political life.
The armies of the period included elite mounted samurai and the lighter-armoured retainers who accompanied them.
These retainers commonly wore do-maru armour, which was simpler and less expensive than the elaborate protection used by wealthier warriors.
GMP-20MD – Minamoto Retainers by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set representing warriors serving the Minamoto Clan.
The set features two armoured retainers equipped with naginata polearms, bringing together the individual GMP-20MA and GMP-20MB figures.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War collection, this set complements the mounted samurai and other Minamoto infantry.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
