GMP-21MD – Minamoto Retainers | John Jenkins Designs
During the Gempei War of 1180–1185, the rival Taira and Minamoto clans fought for political and military control of Japan.
The eventual victory of the Minamoto led to the establishment of the Kamakura shogunate, marking an important change in Japanese government.
According to John Jenkins Designs, samurai warriors were frequently accompanied by a group of retainers who wore simpler protective equipment.
The do-maru armour associated with these soldiers was made using treated leather and silk lacing and was a relatively affordable form of protection.
GMP-21MD – Minamoto Retainers by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set representing warriors serving the Minamoto Clan.
The set brings together the individual GMP-21MA and GMP-21MB retainers, allowing collectors to expand their Japanese infantry formations.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War collection, this set complements the mounted samurai and other Minamoto soldiers.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
