GMP-22MD – Samurai Retainers | John Jenkins Designs
The Gempei War of 1180–1185 transformed Japan's political and military landscape, with the Minamoto Clan emerging victorious over the rival Taira.
The conflict helped establish the samurai as a dominant force in Japanese political life.
According to John Jenkins Designs, the armies of this period included elite mounted warriors and their supporting retainers.
While wealthy samurai wore elaborate yoroi armour, retainers and less wealthy warriors commonly used simpler do-maru protection.
These soldiers accompanied their leaders during the military campaigns of the late Heian period.
GMP-22MD – Samurai Retainers by John Jenkins Designs is a two-figure set depicting warriors serving the Minamoto Clan.
The set brings together the individual GMP-22MA and GMP-22MB figures, providing collectors with additional infantry for a Minamoto military formation.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War collection.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
