GW042B – Chauchat MG Gunner – Gas Mask

The Chauchat light machine gun provided French infantry with portable automatic firepower at a time when the battlefield was still dominated by heavier, less mobile machine guns.

GW042B adds another unmistakable feature of the Great War – the gunner is shown wearing a gas mask. The combination of automatic weapon and protective equipment creates a figure firmly rooted in the harsh conditions of the later Western Front.

He can provide covering fire during a gas attack or be positioned alongside other masked French troops to create an especially atmospheric section of the battlefield.

Available from The Military Workshop – a striking Thomas Gunn Chauchat Gunner combining French automatic firepower with the grim reality of chemical warfare.
