GW100A – Corporal George Howell VC – 1st Battalion AIF
George Julian “Snowy” Howell was serving with the 1st Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, when his actions during the Battle of Pozières earned him the Victoria Cross.
On 6 May 1917 at Bullecourt, Howell came under intense enemy fire while his battalion was engaged in bitter fighting against German positions. Despite the danger, he pressed forward and attacked the enemy at close quarters before being severely wounded.
His courage was recognised with Britain's highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy.
GW100A – Corporal George Howell commemorates one of Australia's Victoria Cross recipients and makes an important personality figure for any collection devoted to the AIF and the Western Front.
Available from The Military Workshop – a distinguished Thomas Gunn portrayal of Corporal George Howell VC, 1st Battalion AIF.
