GW101B – Lieutenant Percy Storkey VC – 19th Battalion AIF

During fighting near Hangard Wood on 7 April 1918, Lieutenant Percy Valentine Storkey of the 19th Battalion AIF found his men held up by intense enemy machine-gun fire.

Storkey and a small group worked around the German position and launched a surprise attack. Their action resulted in the capture of numerous enemy soldiers and machine guns and earned Storkey the Victoria Cross.

Born in New Zealand, Storkey later settled in Australia and pursued a distinguished legal career after the war.

Available from The Military Workshop – GW101B is Thomas Gunn's portrayal of Lieutenant Percy Storkey VC, an important personality for a 19th Battalion or Australian Victoria Cross collection.
