MGMP-03B – Warrior Monk with Yumi | John Jenkins Designs
Archery played an important role in Japanese warfare during the late Heian period, when the Gempei War brought the Taira and Minamoto clans into open conflict.
According to John Jenkins Designs, the yumi, or Japanese longbow, was highly respected among the military forces of the period.
The Buddhist warrior monks, known as Sohei, also participated in the conflict, forming an additional military force alongside the rival clans.
These monks were associated with powerful religious institutions and could support either faction according to the interests of their monasteries.
MGMP-03B – Warrior Monk with Yumi represents a Japanese warrior monk equipped with the traditional yumi bow.
This variation complements MGMP-03A and MGMP-03C, allowing collectors to assemble several bow-armed Sohei figures.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War collection, the miniature adds further variety to a group of Japanese warrior monks.
