MGMP-04B – Warrior Monk | John Jenkins Designs
The warrior monks of medieval Japan were an important force during the Gempei War, fought between the Taira and Minamoto clans from 1180 to 1185.
These monks, known as Sohei, were associated with Buddhist monasteries that maintained armed forces and participated in the military conflicts of the period.
John Jenkins Designs explains that the Sohei played a significant role during the opening stages of the war, particularly at the Battle of Uji Bridge in 1180.
Although the naginata was among their preferred weapons, the manufacturer's collection also represents monks equipped with swords.
MGMP-04B – Warrior Monk depicts a Japanese warrior monk wearing red and orange robes and carrying two swords.
The figure provides an additional weapon variation within the Sohei collection, complementing the naginata and yumi-armed warrior monks.
