MGMP-06D – Warrior Monks | John Jenkins Designs

The warrior monks of medieval Japan formed an important military force during the Gempei War, which was fought between the Taira and Minamoto clans from 1180 to 1185.

Known as Sohei, these monks were associated with influential Buddhist monasteries and sometimes supported opposing factions during the same conflict.

According to John Jenkins Designs, the Sohei played an important role at the beginning of the war, including the Battle of Uji Bridge in 1180.

Their equipment included protective armour worn beneath traditional monk's robes and a variety of Japanese weapons.

MGMP-06D – Warrior Monks is a two-figure set featuring armoured warrior monks carrying nagamaki polearms.

The set brings together the black-and-red and green-armoured variations represented by MGMP-06A and MGMP-06B.

Part of the John Jenkins Designs Gempei War collection, these figures complement the other warrior monks and samurai soldiers in the range.

Now available from The Military Workshop.
