NAP068B – Standing Rifleman, Corporal | Thomas Gunn
The British infantry square depended upon discipline. Soldiers had to maintain formation while enemy cavalry approached, knowing that a gap or collapse at the wrong moment could prove disastrous.
Among the men helping maintain that discipline were the army's non-commissioned officers, represented here by NAP068B – Standing Rifleman, Corporal.
The Corporal variation allows collectors to introduce rank differences within a formation instead of filling the square entirely with private soldiers.
Thomas Gunn has also given this revised standing figure several more campaign-like details, including altered gaiters, sideburns and a less perfectly arranged blanket roll.
Combine the Corporal with NAP068A and the various kneeling and firing poses to create a British formation that feels assembled from individual soldiers rather than repeated identical figures.
