PMRR-02YN – 3 Principes | John Jenkins Designs

PMRR-02YN – 3 Principes brings together three experienced Roman heavy infantrymen in the yellow shield variation.

The Principes formed the second principal line of the manipular legion, standing behind the Hastati and providing a fresh body of troops if the first phase of the battle did not succeed.

For a miniature army, that historical depth can be recreated very effectively. Place the Principes behind the forward line rather than simply spreading every figure across one frontage and the display begins to resemble a much more organised Roman formation.

The three-man set also allows a larger unit to be built quickly while retaining visual consistency through the yellow shields.

Available through The Military Workshop – an excellent John Jenkins Designs three-piece set for creating a deeper and more convincing Mid-Republic Roman battle line.
