RS017A - Standing Firing Aussie Rifleman
In this position, the soldier:
- Stands with feet braced for balance and recoil control
- Brings the rifle firmly to shoulder height
- Uses a controlled firing stance for quick target acquisition
- Maintains situational awareness, allowing movement if needed
Historically, Australian riflemen—especially in the Second World War—used this stance in fast-moving jungle and open-field engagements where cover was limited or combat was fluid. Today, it’s still taught in basic drill and combat marksmanship for short, reactive engagements.
