RS035A - Type 1 Ho-Ni I (Cam Version)
Developed during World War II, the Type 1 Ho-Ni I was one of Japan’s attempts to create a mobile anti-tank weapon capable of supporting its armoured forces. Based on the chassis of the Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank, the vehicle was fitted with a Type 90 field gun mounted in an open fighting compartment, allowing it to engage enemy armour from defensive positions.
As the war progressed and Allied armoured forces became increasingly powerful across the Pacific, Japan placed greater emphasis on defensive warfare. Vehicles such as the Ho-Ni I were deployed in attempts to strengthen island defences and counter advancing Allied forces, although they were produced in limited numbers compared with earlier Japanese armoured vehicles.
RS035A - Type 1 Ho-Ni I (Cam Version) recreates this unusual Japanese armoured fighting vehicle with a camouflage finish suited to the Pacific theatre. Its distinctive open-top gun position and compact tank design make it a fascinating addition for collectors interested in lesser-known aspects of WWII armoured warfare.
Ideal for enhancing Japanese WWII displays, this vehicle provides a unique focal point for dioramas featuring defensive positions, island battles, or late-war Japanese forces. Available from The Military Workshop, this historically significant piece offers collectors the opportunity to showcase a rare example of Japan’s wartime armoured development.
