The SFA043A - Zulu Warrior Charging with Assegai depicts a fierce Zulu warrior advancing into battle armed with the traditional assegai (spear) and shield, representing the highly disciplined warriors of the Zulu Kingdom during the late 19th century.

The Zulu army reached the height of its military power under the leadership of King Cetshwayo kaMpande, and became renowned for its organisation, courage and battlefield tactics. Zulu warriors were organised into regiments known as amabutho, with soldiers trained from a young age in close combat techniques and the famous “horns of the buffalo” battle formation.

This figure represents the warriors who fought during the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879, a conflict between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom in southern Africa. Armed with the assegai and the distinctive hide shield, Zulu troops achieved a remarkable victory at the Battle of Isandlwana, where they overwhelmed a British force in one of the most significant defeats suffered by the British Army during the colonial period.

A dynamic addition to any collection focusing on the Zulu Wars, Victorian military history, or 19th century conflicts, this finely detailed figure captures the movement, determination and fighting spirit of the legendary Zulu warrior.
