SFA046 - Standing Firing Zulu

The Zulu warriors of the nineteenth century became renowned for their discipline, courage, and battlefield organisation. During the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879, Zulu forces demonstrated remarkable military skill against one of the most powerful imperial armies of the period.

This figure depicts a standing firing Zulu warrior, representing the use of firearms alongside traditional Zulu weapons during the conflict. While many Zulu warriors carried the famous iklwa stabbing spear and shield, some also used captured or traded firearms when available.

The standing firing pose highlights the adaptability of Zulu forces, who combined traditional fighting methods with modern weapons where possible. Their military system relied heavily on organisation, mobility, and close coordination between warriors.

This figure adds important variety to Anglo-Zulu War collections by showing the changing nature of warfare during the late nineteenth century.

The combination of traditional appearance and firearm technology reflects the transitional period in which the conflict took place.

At The Military Workshop, collectors can explore historically inspired figures that portray the different cultures, armies, and technologies that shaped military history.
