SFA049B - Standing Firing Lance Corporal 24th Foot
The British Army’s 24th Regiment of Foot became one of the most recognised units of the Anglo-Zulu War after its involvement in some of the conflict’s most significant battles. Ordinary soldiers of the regiment faced extremely difficult conditions while serving on campaign in southern Africa.
This figure depicts a standing firing Lance Corporal of the 24th Foot, representing the experienced non-commissioned soldiers who played an important role in maintaining discipline and organisation within infantry units.
Lance corporals occupied a position of responsibility between the ordinary soldier and senior non-commissioned officers. They helped lead sections, maintain order, and support officers during combat.
The firing stance captures the disciplined volleys and controlled musket fire that formed a central part of Victorian infantry tactics. Combined with the detailed uniform and equipment, this figure provides an excellent representation of British troops during the campaign.
The Military Workshop brings collectors historical miniatures that showcase not only famous battles, but also the individual soldiers and ranks that formed the backbone of military forces.
