SFA054 - Zulu Closing in for the Kill
The Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 remains one of the most studied conflicts of the Victorian era, remembered for dramatic battles between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom. The conflict highlighted the effectiveness, discipline, and courage of Zulu warriors, as well as the challenges faced by British forces operating in southern Africa.
This figure depicts a Zulu warrior closing in for the kill, capturing the intensity and determination of close combat during the period. Zulu forces were renowned for their aggressive tactics, battlefield organisation, and the famous impi formations that allowed them to overwhelm opponents through speed and coordination.
Zulu warriors were traditionally equipped with the short stabbing spear known as the iklwa and a shield made from animal hide. Their fighting style emphasised mobility, teamwork, and close engagement with the enemy.
The dynamic pose of this figure conveys the urgency and power of a warrior advancing into battle, making it an impressive addition to displays depicting the Anglo-Zulu War.
The Military Workshop brings collectors historically inspired figures from across the centuries, allowing enthusiasts to explore the cultures, warriors, and conflicts that shaped military history.
