SK-02 – Beothuk Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

The Viking voyages to North America during the early 11th century are described in the Norse sagas, which recount encounters between Scandinavian explorers and the Indigenous peoples of the lands they called Vinland.

The Norse referred to the peoples they encountered in North America and Greenland as Skraelings, a term appearing in accounts including the Greenlanders' Saga and the Saga of Erik the Red.

John Jenkins Designs explores these historical encounters through its Skraelings – The Beothuk collection, which represents Indigenous warriors associated with the Norse exploration of North America.

The manufacturer's historical notes discuss the differences between the weapons available to Norse explorers and those used by Indigenous peoples, particularly the Vikings' ability to manufacture iron swords, axes and spearheads.

SK-02 – Beothuk Warrior by John Jenkins Designs depicts an Indigenous archer standing with his bow, having just released an arrow.

The figure captures a moment of missile combat and is designed to complement the other archers and warriors within the Skraelings collection.

Part of the John Jenkins Designs Conquest of America range, this miniature is particularly suitable for recreating scenes inspired by the Norse voyages to Vinland.
