SK-03 – Beothuk Warrior | John Jenkins Designs
During the Viking Age, Norse explorers ventured westward across the North Atlantic, establishing settlements in Iceland and Greenland before reaching the shores of North America.
The Norse sagas describe voyages to a region known as Vinland, where Scandinavian explorers encountered Indigenous peoples whom they called Skraelings.
These encounters included both peaceful trading and armed conflict, as recorded in the Greenlanders' Saga and the Saga of Erik the Red.
John Jenkins Designs represents these encounters through its Skraelings – The Beothuk collection, featuring warriors equipped with weapons associated with Indigenous communities of the region.
SK-03 – Beothuk Warrior by John Jenkins Designs depicts an Indigenous archer wearing a distinctive deerskin covering complete with antlers.
The warrior is armed with a bow, with the unusual animal-skin attire providing a distinctive appearance within the collection.
This figure complements the other Beothuk archers and warriors, allowing collectors to assemble a group inspired by the Indigenous peoples encountered during the Norse expeditions to North America.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs Conquest of America collection.
