SK-09 – Beothuk Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

During the Viking Age, Scandinavian explorers travelled westward across the North Atlantic, eventually reaching the shores of North America.

The Norse sagas describe encounters between these explorers and the Indigenous inhabitants of the region known to the Vikings as Vinland.

John Jenkins Designs explores this period through its Skraelings – The Beothuk collection, depicting Indigenous warriors inspired by the accounts of early Norse exploration.

The manufacturer's historical background describes how the equipment used by Indigenous peoples differed from the iron weapons carried by Viking warriors.

SK-09 – Beothuk Warrior by John Jenkins Designs depicts a warrior advancing with two stone axes.

The figure captures a dynamic close-combat stance, representing one of the warriors in the Skraelings collection.

Its distinctive weapons provide an interesting contrast to the swords, spears and axes carried by the Viking figures from the Age of Arthur range.

An excellent addition to a display inspired by the early encounters between Norse explorers and Indigenous peoples of North America.
