SS082A - Kneeling Infanteer

Battlefield survival often depended upon making effective use of available cover. Throughout the Second World War, infantry soldiers were trained to minimise their exposure by firing from kneeling, prone, or sheltered positions whenever possible. These techniques increased both their own protection and the accuracy of their fire, particularly during prolonged engagements against well-defended enemy positions.

This figure depicts a German infantryman kneeling as he prepares to engage the enemy. The low firing position creates an immediate sense of realism while illustrating the practical fieldcraft taught to infantry throughout the war. Whether advancing cautiously across open terrain or defending a prepared position, soldiers frequently adopted similar stances to maximise both concealment and stability.

Expertly sculpted with authentic field equipment and realistic proportions, the figure integrates naturally with larger infantry formations, machine gun teams, or urban combat scenes. Its versatile pose makes it equally suitable for Normandy, the Eastern Front, Italy, or the final battles fought during 1945.

Small changes in posture can dramatically enhance the realism of a military display. Collectors building authentic World War II dioramas will appreciate the carefully selected range available through The Military Workshop, where figures are chosen to represent the full diversity of battlefield roles and combat positions.
