VIK-08 – Berserker | John Jenkins Designs
Among the most feared warriors of the Viking Age were the Berserkers, whose legendary fighting abilities became an important part of Norse military tradition and mythology.
According to the historical background provided by John Jenkins Designs, Berserkers were believed to enter a trance-like state of fury during battle, giving rise to the modern English expression "berserk".
Accounts preserved in the Norse sagas describe these warriors howling like wild animals, biting the rims of their shields and fighting with extraordinary ferocity. According to legend, they were believed to be immune to steel and fire while overcome by their battle frenzy.
Some Berserkers wore animal skins, particularly those of bears and wolves, reflecting their association with animal strength and traditional Norse beliefs.
VIK-08 – Berserker by John Jenkins Designs depicts a Viking warrior wielding two axes, representing one of these legendary fighters.
Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings collection, this figure is particularly suited to displays featuring Viking warriors advancing against an enemy shield wall.
