VIK-27B – Viking Warrior | John Jenkins Designs
During the Viking Age, infantry formations commonly relied upon the shield wall to provide protection against opposing soldiers.
This arrangement brought warriors into close contact, with each man depending upon the protection offered by his own shield and those of the soldiers standing alongside him.
According to John Jenkins Designs, the fighting within a shield wall could become a prolonged struggle involving thrusting spears, slashing swords and axes.
The formation was effective while the warriors maintained their positions, but once the line was broken, it could become extremely difficult to restore order.
VIK-27B – Viking Warrior by John Jenkins Designs depicts a Viking infantryman defending his position with an axe and shield.
This variation features a blue shield decorated with a yellow serpent design, providing a colourful alternative to VIK-27A.
The figure is designed to complement other Viking shield wall warriors and can be positioned within a larger defensive formation.
Part of the Age of Arthur – The Vikings collection.
